There are many reasons for making this choice, but the most important one was time. In trying to find time for my family, myself, and my paying job it eventually became clear where I had to make a sacrifice.
My first priority in this process is to protect my readers and guest bloggers. They have spent their time to participate in this blog and I will not let their work go to waste. I am determined to find GladDads.com a new owner worthy of the community they will inherit. It will be up to them to move this thing forward while protecting all the pre-existing content.
I will not give you any website statistics (don’t ask). I will tell you that other than the URL, there are no expenses associated with GladDads.com. You will have to take a look at the site and determine what it is worth to you. The value in this site comes from the community involvement it generates. While you are browsing start thinking about what you’d like to do with the place and how you’d like to push this movement forward.
To be considered as the next owner of GladDads.com you must provide the following by Midnight (PST) of Sunday May 23, 2010:
- Introduce yourself in detail as a Glad Dad. Tell me why you should be the next owner of GladDads.com. At least 500 words.
- A vision for GladDads.com going forward. Topics to consider include content and community. At least 500 words.
- A succession plan. When the time comes to step aside, how will you take care of the Glad Dads community? At least 200 words.
- One picture which should include you, your child(ren) and a light bulb. (I need to make sure that you are real, a Dad, and have access to electricity)
It has truly been a pleasure getting to know all of you and you can rest assured I will leave you in good hands. I have always believed in paying passion forward and I hope that my passion for parenting has been communicated over the last year.
Thank you as always for reading and stay tuned for more!
If you wouldn’t mind, this contest needs some link and social networking love. Lets make it viral. After all, Its not every day someone gives away their blog.
